Good Morning,
Today's devotional is based on a comment of a friend who said that someone she knows loves the Bible and the person carries it around like a Teddy Bear. The comment is really adorable and a basis for interesting concepts. Here is a quote from this writing, "I would like to make a suggestion. If you have not yet done so, you might like to add a Bible App to your cell phone, so that you can read the word just as the person that I heard about carrying a Bible like a Teddy Bear."
The phone is the current adult generation's teddy bear and is always with us.
Have a blessed week.

And now, brothers,
as I close this letter ,
let me say this one more thing:
Fix your thoughts on what is true
and good and right. Think about things
that are pure and lovely, and dwell on the fine,
good things in others. Think about all you
can praise God for and be glad about.
Philippians 4:8
I was talking to a friend the other day and she mentioned something that tickled my fancy. She was telling me about someone she knows who has become very interested in reading the bible, and she said how that person is taking it everywhere they go.
She actually said this sentence about the person...
"The 'person' lugs the Bible around everywhere like a Teddy Bear."
When I heard this I said to myself, "Hmm this is a great topic for a devotional." Now, that does not mean that I am going to write about lugging any item around as if it is one's Teddy Bear. Quite the opposite! First of all, either a Bible or a Teddy Bear would be way too cumbersome to haul around daily.
Now keep in mind we are actually not talking about the stuffed bear; the topic here is actually the Bible and what it means to us. The Bible is the God breathed word of God given to men, or women in the Old and New Testaments. We can find His wisdom in it. When I first started reading the Bible, I was always amazed that somewhere hidden in what I read was written as if it was put there just for me in a present circumstance. In fact, God had known from all eternity I would need this wisdom.
Now I return to the Teddy aspect. Little children love this toy. It represents a friend, maybe a protector, and a much loved toy to the small child. As we get older our "Teddy" is replaced by age appropriate items that are dear to us. Our Teddy becomes a trike, a doll, a special friend, our first car, a husband and a child...the list goes on and on. All these temporal things become our "Teddy" that makes life more joyful, and we move along.
Do we have adult replacements for a Teddy Bear? Yes, there are many, but in this modern technological age the cell phone tops the list. Most of us would be lost without our "cell teddy." It is with us at home or out and about. It is small, and can be in a pocket or in a purse. It has become our small Teddy that we cannot live without. What would we do without it. It is our connection to the world far and near. Ir is entertainment for the down times in life when we are waiting for what's next. The good news is that it can be your Bible as well.
I know many of you have a Bible app on your cell phone. I do, and I use it at church because I am slow at finding pages. I would like to make a suggestion. If you have not yet done so, you might like to add a Bible App to your cell phone, so that you can read the word just as the person that I heard about carrying a Bible like a Teddy Bear. The phone can fill the same need, and it is as close as your pocked or purse. We have it all...a small adult "TB" replacement with the Word at our fingertips.

Charles Spurgeon said,
"A bible that is falling apart
usually belongs
to someone who isn't."
to someone who isn't."
Everyone needs their Bible close at hand.
You can do that with your cell (Teddy Bear)
