Good Morning,
This New Testament scripture in the book of John, starts out with an explanation of who was the creator of the world uses "Word," "God, "In Him was light, and that light was the light of the light of man." It is a difficult concept, but when you get it the actual simplicity of it is mind blowing. The author wrote, "The Word, then, is a Personage who was made flesh—begotten by God, who through this action became his Father. Yet at that prehistoric time written about in the first verse of John 1, the Word was not (yet) the Son of God. He divested himself of his glory as a Spirit divinity to be begotten as a human person. He was made God's Son, through being begotten or sired by God and born of the virgin Mary."
And the rest of the story is the story of our salvation.
May you be blessed throughout this entire week,
Annie and Corinne

"IN THE BEGINNING"
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by him;
and without him was not
any thing made that was made.
In him was life; and the life
was the light of men.
John 1 1-4
John 1 1-4
"The Word" in this passage is translated from the Greek word logos, which means "spokesman," or "word". It is a name here used for an individual Personage. But who or what is this Logos? Notice the explanation in verse 14:
"And the Word was made flesh,
and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory,
the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,)
full of grace and truth."
When he was born as Jesus Christ, he was flesh and blood, materialistic, and could be seen, touched, and felt. But what was He? As God—as the Logos? That is answered in this way...
"God is a Spirit,"
"God is a Spirit,"
John 4:24,
and spirit is invisible. We know what was His form and shape as the human Jesus. But of what form and shape was He as the Word?
The Word, then, is a Personage who was made flesh—begotten by God, who through this action became his Father. Yet at that prehistoric time written about in the first verse of John 1, the Word was not (yet) the Son of God. He divested himself of his glory as a Spirit divinity to be begotten as a human person. He was made God's Son, through being begotten or sired by God and born of the virgin Mary.
So here we find revealed originally two Personages. One is God. And with God in that prehistoric time was another Personage who also was God—one who later was begotten and born as Jesus Christ. But these two Personages were spirit, which is invisible to human eyes unless supernaturally manifested. Yet, at the time described in verse one, Jesus was not the Son of God, and God was not His Father.
Heavenly God, Father and Son.
Thank you for the miracles you performed to present yourself to people as you are. When I think about this explanation it boggles my mind. Scripture says that You are God and I am not. In my childhood in religion class I learned that some things are a mystery that cannot be explained. I thank You for this concept that I learned. It has made my life much easier. Understanding You is a challenge, but accepting your mystery is easy. Thank you also for showing a little ray of light that is a hint to what this all means. I love brain teasers!
Amen
"JESUS, O LIVING WORD OF GOD"
