Thursday Writings.....6/16/16

Good morning...

Today I had to go to Home Depot and while I was there for some outdoor grill polish I saw that Sunflowers were on sale at $12 for three pots. I love sunflowers, so I bought some. I couldn't help myself! Mustafa still has not seen them. While I am singing "You are my sunshine" as I am planting them Thursday, my husband will be searching the sky for signs of rain...LOL. (Actually we do have rain predicted for Thursday and Friday.)

Hope your Thursday is a good one.

God bless from
Corinne

The Devotional component in the Thursday Writings of Women's Focus Ministries is titled, "Rely On His Promises" and was co-written by Brother Thomas Ukwute and Jody Ward. They wrote about the fact that the Lord came with promises for making their homes like a well watered garden. Brother Thomas wrote, "They will not be left to dry up at another time. Their life will be like a well-watered garden and they will never languish again." Jody wrote, "Let me remind you that God stands behind every word He speaks. Do not give up and forget that He will bring His words to pass in His own time."

  Today's Devotional

"Rely On His Promises"
co- written by
Brother Thoman Ukwute
        & Jody Ward

You see, the Lord, our Lord, has redeemed His people. He has paid a stiff price and ransomed them so they can be free. He bought them back. The Lord delivered His chosen from the hands of people who were stronger than they were. He rescued them, and saved them, from enemies that could overpower them.

Then His people will come home singing songs of joy. They will climb up Zion’s slopes with shouts of gladness. They will be beaming and radiant with joy over the goodness of the Lord. They will rejoice because of the bounty and blessing of the Lord. They will be delighted with His gifts of good crops, grain, new wine and oil. They will celebrate the good things from the Lord, the healthy sheep and cattle.

They will not be left to dry up at another time. Their life will be like a well-watered garden and they will never languish again. They will have plenty of water and their soul will not sorrow or grieve any longer. His people will not be troubled anymore but instead will prosper and grow.

Young women will dance with joy and be happy. Both young men, and old men, will rejoice together and join in the celebration.

“Because I have invaded their mourning and grief with joy. I have changed their distress and suffering into happiness. I converted their weeping into laughter. I lavished comfort on them, and gave them gladness for their sorrow, for their captivity with all its pain are behind them.

“I will fill and saturate the soul of religious leaders with abundance and will fully satisfy My people with My goodness. My people will be filled with the good things I give them.” declares the Lord.

Brother Thomas Ukwute

Jeremiah 32.27

What a wonderful promise! What marvelous words!

Sometimes, you are in situations where you think God has forgotten you. Or you might even  be in a place where you feel hopeless and you think the promises of the scripture are empty and in vain

Let me remind you that God stands behind every word He speaks. Do not give up and forget that He will bring His words to pass in His own time.

Hang on. Stay focused and steadfast in your commitment to God and His words no matter how high the waves may be. There is hope at the end, for His thoughts for us are thoughts of good and not of evil. His plans are to give us hope and a future.

May you find safety, restoration and joy in the hollow of His hands. May you find His Grace to walk through your present situation with grace, faith and hope, in the name of Jesus.
Jody Ward

Can't we, when we are working and drop something, instead of getting mad about it, say thank you God for giving me the strength to pick this up?

Christianity is not a theory or speculation, but a life; not a philosophy of life, but a living presence.

Martin Luther

   In The News

Pastor Perry Noble of NewSpring Church in South Carolina has responded to the deadliest shooting rampage in U.S. history at the Orlando gay nightclub on Sunday, warning that without a heart connection to Jesus Christ, the "possibilities for evil are endless."
Noble said in a video posted on Facebook on Monday that when he first heard news of the Orlando massacre, where gunman Omar Mir Seddique Mateen killed 49 people and reportedly pledged his allegiance to the Islamic State, his first response, like many other Americans, was to think that just another shooting has occurred in a list of many.
"How callous have we started becoming?" Noble asked, warning against becoming desensitized to such tragedies.
He said that as he read more details about the rampage, he began thinking that only a spiritual solution can help prevent such acts of violence.
"I don't think this is a gun control issue, I don't think this is a gay issues, I don't think even if you really want to boil it down, this is a religious issue. I think this is a heart issue. I think the biggest problem in our world today isn't anything that we can legislate or pass a law against," Noble said.
"The biggest problem in our world today is there are people who literally don't have a heart connection to Jesus. And when people don't have a heart connection with Jesus, the possibilities for evil are endless."
Pointing to the story of the Apostle Paul as found in the Bible, where Paul turned away from persecuting Christians to become a follower of Christ, Noble said: "Here's the beautiful thing — Jesus can defeat ISIS."
He added that his hope and his prayer is that people don't get caught up in politics, but instead focus their hearts on the notion that "Jesus Christ is absolutely the only hope for the world."
Christian churches, including a Southern Baptist congregation two blocks away from the Orlando nightclub, have meanwhile been reaching out to help victims and their families.
Delaney Baptist Church Pastor Troy Peeples told The Christian Post on Monday that his 1,900 member congregation prayed for the victims and the first responders on Sunday morning, and stressed that his church is focused on "sharing the love of God through Jesus Christ to those who are hurting."
"It was announced in our service that blood was needed, so we encouraged our members to give blood and many did. We are looking into ways that we can minister to the various groups impacted by this tragedy," Peeples added. "Honestly, we are a little overwhelmed! We know that there are and will be many needs and we are praying how best meet some of those needs."
