Good morning...
As we begin this week, will you join me in praying for all of the families, friends, and victims of the Orlando nightclub terrorist attack? My heart breaks for the people who must deal with the devastation. It doesn't matter to me where the shooting takes place- or why the shooter claims he did it. I refuse to give my attention to the words of someone who has done evil. I doubt I would be able to think or pray if I had lost a friend or family member - so I will stand in the gap - for those who are in pain- for those who are dead.
God bless from
Corinne
The Devotional component in the Monday Writings of Women's Focus Ministries was written by Mary M. Wilkins. I appreciate how Mary shares her sorrow and response to the terrible news in this devotional appropriately called "The Poison of Hate." There are no words to fully express the pain and devastation resulting from the actions of hate.

And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength. The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”
Mark 12:30-31 NLT
Dear Father, You have made clear the answer to the question: 'Who is my neighbor?' Everyone is my neighbor (see Luke 10:25-37). Please help us to love the brokenhearted and to weep with those who weep. We lift up the families, friends, and communities affected by the terrible actions of one. Please bless them and send your ministering angels to them. No matter how much hate comes our way- may sincere and compassionate love flow out of us.
Loving God,
Welcome into your arms the victims of violence and terrorism.
Comfort their families and all who grieve for them.
Help us in our fear and uncertainty,
And bless us with the knowledge that we are secure in your love.
Strengthen all those who work for peace,
And may the peace the world cannot give reign in our hearts.
Amen.
Today's Devotional
"The Poison of Hate"

Our country awoke to Sunday morning's news that a gunman killed 50 people and wounded 53 more at a nightclub in Orlando. My heart sinks within me as I think of the mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, friends, sweethearts, and children that are still waiting to find out if their loved one made it out alive.
The gunman doesn't deserve any press- I don't want to see photos from Facebook, or hear what he 'believed' or 'said'. Instead, I watch the news clips that show the FBI, police, and other diligent service personnel working nonstop to sort through the devastation.
My friend shared:
My first thoughts were how many times one person has caused so much pain to others. And yet, things like this also bring out strengths and compassion that would have remained untapped. I have been praying for the survivors, first responders and medical teams...
