Saturday Devotional

"Praise be to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

the Father of compassion, and the God of all comfort,

who comforts us in all our troubles,

so that we can comfort those in any trouble

with the comfort we ourselves have received from God."

II Corinthians 1:3,4

Christians are comforted by God's assurance of forgiveness of all their sins and the grace to walk through life by faith in Jesus. This is a marvelous gift. Each day, no matter what happens, we know that God walks with us and we are never alone.

This should stir us to greater discipleship. What we have we should be anxious to share with everyone we meet. This is what God expects of us.

So, do you seek out ways in your daily life to share God's gifts to you with others whom you meet? Do you seek ways to serve others who may be forgotten? Are you involved in church and community activities?

Christians aren't called to a life of ease or comfort. Christians are called out to the world to make a difference in people's lives and to lead them to becoming a part of God's family.

The next time you're tempted to say "no" to becoming a volunteer or to look the other way when you see someone in trouble, think again. You are the one called by God to comfort those in Trouble with the same comfort you have received from God.
