Women's Focus Ministries

We are a group of Christian women (and one man) who write daily devotionals and other articles of interest to women.
We publish daily. Praying that you will enjoy this ministry.

Thank you and God bless,
Corinne Mustafa.......and the Writing Staff of "WFM"

One of our writers is writing a novel, called AFTER THE EVENT, that is published Saturdays separately from the daily posts. There is a link on the left side that will take you to the blog of the novel which is being posted in installments.

 Tuesday's Devotional

"Our Value to God Shows Us Who We Are to Him."

A few years ago I attended a retreat that had the theme, ‘Our Value to God.” There are many scripture verses that address this topic. The two scriptures in this devotional are not included in this list of scriptures. However, these two scriptures seem to give the most evidence of who we are to God.

But God demonstrates
his own love
 for us in this:
While we were still sinners,
Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8

We are so very important to God that He was willing to sacrifice the life of His Son, Jesus. He did not insist that we prove ourselves by acts of our paltry human power. Even though we are who and what we are God, values us so much. He sees us as he made us and not as we are. We are His children…His creation. He knows that we cannot earn salvation, but He wants to offer us eternal life in spite of our shortcomings. How amazing is that. He was willing to die for us while we were still sinners. He did not hold off for some human miracle by which we could make ourselves worthy by our own strength.

In evidence for this topic there is also the following scripture…

“I tell you the truth,
those who listen to my message and believe
in God who sent me have eternal life.
They will never be condemned for their sins,
but they have already passed from death into life.
John 5:24

This tells us that even though we have sinned we will not be judged because of our sin. If we believe in God we will have life eternally with Him, because we have already passed from death into life. I am blessed by this, because it tells me that I no longer am under the condemnation of my sin. I do believe that it calls for a certain striving from me to live a life that shows good will and love of God. However, if in my human weakness, I stumble He has already forgiven me for my shortcomings.

THANK YOU GOD!

A  HEART OF GOLD...     March Writing by Cathy Friberg

My husband and I recently went to visit our daughter and her husband in Sacramento. They took us to Grass Valley to visit the Empire Mine. This is a retired historic gold mine. Our tour guide painted a verbal portrait of the rugged and rigorous life of the typical fellow who worked in the gold mines in the 1800's. Wages were low, perhaps 2 to 3 dollars per day. The mines were dangerous, the work was physically arduous, and the men who had left their families behind were desperately lonely.

As the tour guide spun his tale, it was revealed that there were many laborers who didn't possess the highest moral compass. There were those who went to great lengths to steal gold nuggets from the mines. They justified their theft by saying that the mine owners owed them the gold because they worked so hard.
However there were others, especially the Cornish, from Cornwall England, who were devout Christians trying to earn an honest living. They would sing hymns together down in the dark mines as they did their work. As I listened to the stories being told, the thought came to me that one can approach his responsibilities in one of two ways. A duty can be completed with either a negative, unthankful, and dishonest outlook or with an enthusiastic, grateful, and honorable attitude.

The Christian miners evidently did their work coming...

 "heartily as unto the Lord."
 (Colossians 3:2

Others, by contrast, were devious, grumbling, and far from God in all their ways.

One could hardly blame the "rough and tumble" miners for having poor attitudes toward the taxing and perilous labor they were engaged in. However, there were those, like the Cornish who managed to exhibit exemplary character in the face of extremely challenging circumstances and conditions. How inspiring to us who face hardships in our own lives. When we are tempted to complain and murmur we can take a lesson here and praise the Lord in the midst of our trials and testings. When we feel we are being treated unjustly we can aspire to do things according to God's principles and trust the outcome to Him.

I have a hunch that there is glorious reward in heaven for those who are on this earth unseen, unheard, unsung, and who carry out the humblest of tasks with an upright, appreciative and excellent attitude. So mothers, changing those diapers, getting up for 2:00 AM feedings and wiping runny noses, take heart. Grocery clerks, standing on your feet for eight hours with aching backs and catching the brunt of the displaced anger of rude customers, please don't despair. Office workers who manage to stay clear of the gossip, who sometimes get blamed for the mistakes of others, and who work with integrity and diligence yet get passed by for the promotion, be encouraged.

Not a good deed goes unnoticed, not a kind or cheerful word unheard, and not a hidden tear is ever ignored by the God of the Universe.

"You are the God who sees me."
Genesis 16:13a

In His timing and in His way I truly believe the Lord rewards pure hearted conduct and demeanor.
"And let us not be weary in well doing:
for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."
Galatians 6:9

So lets strive to live our daily lives in a manner that brings honor and glory to God and which causes Him to smile upon all our endeavors.

THE COMBINATION

The temporary Sunday School teacher was struggling to open a combination lock on the      supply cabinet. She had been told the combination, but couldn't quite remember it.
Finally she went to the pastor's study and asked for help. The pastor came into the room
and  began to turn the dial.

After the first two numbers he paused and stared blankly for a moment.
Finally he looked serenely heavenward and his lips moved silently. Then he looked
back at the lock, and quickly turned to the final number, and opened the lock.

The teacher was amazed. "I'm in awe at your faith, pastor," she said.

"It's really nothing," he answered. "The number is on a piece of tape on the ceiling."
