Friday Writing by Karen Bennett......4/7/17

Good morning,

Karen Bennett is the writer for today. The title is,  "Sweet Peace of Jesus." Karen's theme
is that we can give our cares to God and have peace. It is to the advantage of everyone to let Him hold our issues so that we can avoid pain and lack of peace.

Karen wrote,
"He will make our paths straight through green pastures of peace and comfort. Our mornings won't be permeated with stress, making the days long and difficult."

Tonight when you head for bed, go over the events of your day and hand the problems over to Jesus.

God bless

"Sweet Peace of Jesus"

"He makes me lie down in green pastures,
He leads me beside still waters,
He restores my soul."
Psalm 23:2-3

A peaceful, pastoral scene is presented in these words from our beloved Psalm 23. It's a place where peace and calm fill your being. What else would you picture for the presence of Jesus in your life? I'm sure there are other pictures we could paint in our attempt to show serenity, but nothing could be better than God's own description of it through His beloved shepherd boy, David.

God doesn't withhold His peace from us. It's freely given and always available. All that needs to be done, is for us to turn everything over to Him, to place it all in His care.  We know He is always in control, but there are circumstances, at times, when we wrestle with Him for that control.  That's when our trust fails. If we insist on keeping our problems and don't trust God, we will be continually plagued.

We shouldn't go to bed at night giving it all to Him in order for us to sleep, then strap the full weight of it all back on our shoulders as soon as the morning's light has us open our eyes. Pray for His guidance --- then trust Him to handle it. Be observant for His direction.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart
 and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will make your paths straight."

                                Proverbs 3:5-6.

He will make our paths straight through green pastures of peace and comfort. Our mornings won't be permeated with stress, making the days long and difficult.

"Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You.
Show me the way I should go,
for to You I lift up my soul."
Psalm 143:8
It's just what we need, to wake in the morning with the joy of God's love in our hearts, and the knowledge of His firm, yet gentle and perfect guidance for our day. Is it any wonder we should be glad and rejoice in that day?

Dear Father, when my heart becomes troubled and weary, remind me that You are with me, and all is in Your capable hands for my good. Help me willingly let go of the problems I may face and accept with joy and confidence the great peace and comfort You lovingly provide. May all my life be lived in You.

In Jesus' name. Amen.

  1. Thank you Karen for your writings. I love the 23rd Psalm. It saddens me that so many people nowadays don't know this Psalm or the Savior. Ever grateful however of the great peace and comfort He gives!
