Saturday Writing by Carol Steficek.......2/18/17

Good Morning,

The writing for Saturday is titled, "FOLLY VERSUS WISDOM." The author is Carol Steficek. Carol's theme was to decry the fact that in this jaded world people are more excited about folly and the fun they have when they go after it in whatever form it takes. Carol wrote, " As a nation we no longer stand in awe of God and who He is.  We no longer listen to His commandments.  People do not love their neighbors as themselves.  Rather we are a nation of self-serving people who put themselves first and God last -- if at all."

Hope you are  not stuck in a deluge or in four feet of snow. The weather seems to be out of control. Pray for our country as we deal with killing weather and the ugliness of how people are using the First Amendment.

"FOLLY VERSUS WISDOM"

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, 

but fools despise wisdom and discipline." 

Proverbs 1:7

    

      The word for wisdom actually goes beyond just knowledge.  In Hebrew wisdom involved the skill of living in a broader sense -- not just intellect or "book learning" but being productive and living from God's perspective.

     In today's society we see just the opposite. We have absorbed values from the age we are living in.  No longer do we even meet the standards of our founding fathers of this nation, let alone God's.  The world's standards are bringing folly to all and the road it leads to is ultimate destruction.

     

     Why are we pursuing folly rather than wisdom?  As a nation we no longer stand in awe of God and who He is.  We no longer listen to His commandments.  People do not love their neighbors as themselves.  Rather we are a nation of self-serving people who put themselves first and God last -- if at all.

     Christians need to be on their knees in prayer that God will bring healing to this nation rather than judgment.  Then we need to get up and share the saving gospel message with a nation in desperate need of hearing it.
