Good morning,
Diane Sutton has provided the writing for Tuesday, which is called,"The Treasures We Value." She has shared several examples of scripture that tell us that the word of God is what we should collect as valuables to keep us centered on the true treasures we should collect. Diane writes, "Where is your heart? Are you storing up heavenly treasures or earthly collections?"
Wishing you a beautiful day "to get your worship on." (lyrics from a song by Mandisa.) So put on your galoshes or your snow boots and go out to enjoy this day that the Lord has made.
God bless,
Corinne & Diane

Today's Devotional
"The Treasures We Value"
I know
many of us probably have a collection of something we value or just enjoy
having in our home while others may have inherited a collection like I
did. But have we thought about what things
should we, as believers, be collecting?
Scripture
says we should “collect” heavenly treasures such as godly wisdom, knowledge,
understanding, righteousness, faith and love.
Proverbs
2:1-5 says we should store up God’s
commands within us and seek His wisdom, understanding and insight. The passage
continues to say if we look for these as if searching for hidden
treasure we will then understand the fear of the Lord and find the
knowledge of God.
Isaiah
33:6 states that the Lord will be our solid
foundation for our times and the fear of the Lord
is the key to the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, and a rich store of
salvation.
Colossians
2:2-3 tells us that our goal should be to
know
the mystery of God
in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge
.
1Timothy
6 says we should pursue
righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. We should be
rich in good deeds, be generous and willing to share. In
this way we will lay up treasure for ourselves as a firm foundation for the
coming age, so that we may take hold of the life that is truly life.
Matthew 6:19-21 warns us of the dangers of collecting earthly treasures
which are easily destroyed or stolen.
Matthew 6 states “For where your
treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Where
is your heart? Are you storing up
heavenly treasures or earthly collections?
This
year let us diligently seek the heavenly treasures that God has for us through
God’s Word.
