Good Morning,
Today's Writing, "When God’s People Pray, God Moves," was composed by Diane Sutton and speaks of the effect of prayer for needs when God's people pray to Him. Prayer is very powerful and makes a difference. Diane wrote, "We must believe that God can move to bring about changes in our lives and our country if we earnestly pray and not stop until God moves!"
May Tuesday bring you new reasons to go to God in prayer, and please continue to pray for our country.
God bless,
Corinne & Diane

When God’s
People Pray, God Moves
Recently I listened to a pastor from Egypt speak about the events in his
country which led to the 2013 overthrow of a harsh Muslim government. The
pastor spoke about how the government forced hundreds of young girls into
sexual slavery or be married to Muslim men. He said hundreds of Egyptian business
owners were arrested and imprisoned because they dared to protest against taxes
unjustly imposed upon them.
In response to what was happening in their country Christians gathered
together to pray for their country and government. This pastor stated when he invited
his church to prayer meetings, over 700 members faithfully showed up each week
for several months to pray for God’s intervention which resulted in a
historical event.
On
June 30, 2013, approximately 14 million protesters poured into the streets across
Egypt to demonstrate against the Islamic government which eventually led to the
end of the Muslim government in Egypt. This demonstration was reportedly one of
the biggest protests in world history.
I believe this is a great example of what can happen when God’s people
come together in prayer. When God’s people come together and pray, God moves. We
need to keep praying earnestly until God moves. Luke 22:44 says that Jesus being
in anguish, prayed so earnestly that his sweat was like
drops of blood falling to the ground.
There is nothing in this world more powerful than God’s people praying in
unity for God to move. Too many times when it seems nothing is happening, we
give up instead of persevering and waiting for God’s answer. 1 Thessalonians
3:10
says that Paul, Silas and Timothy prayed night and day earnestly for the Thessalonians. In
Acts 12:5 the church earnestly prayed to God for Peter who was kept
in prison. In James 5:17 Elijah prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land
for three and a half years.
When
we pray earnestly as God’s people, we must believe that God will move! Remember
the biblical story of how God used Moses and divine miracles to delivery his
people from Egyptian slavery after hearing the earnest cries of the Jewish
people.
We
must believe that God can move to bring about changes in our lives and our
country if we earnestly pray and not stop until God moves!
