Good morning,
Diane Sutton wrote her devotional about Thanksgiving and gratitude titled, "WHAT DOES THANKSGIVING DAY MEAN TO YOU?" Diane talks of all the usual things like eating and meeting friends and family. She lived away from home and was blessed to spend several Thanksgivings with the families of co workers that she remembers fondly. Diane wrote, "As we celebrate this day of thanksgiving with family and friends, let us remember to spend the day with our Lord and Savior. Let us be full of the Holy Spirit giving thanksgiving and praises for the life our Father has given us through Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." Then Diane posts eight scriptures that really define what the act of giving thanks and having gratitude really means.
Have a terrific Tuesday, and please remember to keep praying for our country.
God bless,
Corinne & Diane

Today's Devotional
What does Thanksgiving Day mean to
you?
What does
Thanksgiving Day mean to you? Many of us
will say this day means spending a wonderful time with families and friends
while sharing a traditional Thanksgiving dinner of turkey, stuffing, and
cranberry sauce. Many will say Thanksgiving
is a time when we express our gratitude to family and friends, and to God for
the blessings we have received.
When I was
single I shared numerous Thanksgiving Days with other families because I was living
too far away from my own family to get home. Thanksgiving means I am grateful for
my “extended” family, the many co-workers and friends who kindly invited me to
share the day with their families so I would not be alone. I am thankful that I
was able to spend this special day with families of different cultures and backgrounds,
enjoying their delicious native dishes. Thanksgiving means I am grateful for
all God has given me – joy, freedom, friends, family, health, but most of all,
life forever spent in His Presence.
As we
celebrate this day of thanksgiving with family and friends, let us remember to
spend the day with our Lord and Savior. Let us be full of the Holy Spirit
giving thanksgiving and praises for the life our Father has given us through Our
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Let us sing songs of thanksgiving and send
petitions of prayer to God for our families, our military and our government.
Let us be grateful for the freedoms we have as a godly people living in a godly
nation.
Psalm
100:4
Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
give thanks to him and praise his name.
Psalm
69:30
I will praise God’s name in song
and glorify him with thanksgiving.
and glorify him with thanksgiving.
Psalm
95:2
Let us come before him with thanksgiving
and extol him with music and song.
and extol him with music and song.
Psalm
100:4
Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
give thanks to him and praise his name.

Corinthians 10:16
Is not the cup of thanksgiving
for which we give thanks
a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break
a participation in the body of Christ?
a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break
a participation in the body of Christ?

Corinthians 4:15
All this is for your benefit,
so that the grace that is reaching more and more people
may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.
so that the grace that is reaching more and more people
may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.
Ephesians
5:4
Nor should there be obscenity,
foolish talk or coarse joking,
which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.
which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.

Timothy 2:1
I urge, then, first of all, that
petitions, prayers,
intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—
intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—

Timothy 4:4
For everything God created is good,
and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,
and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,
