Good morning! This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!
Today's devotional is titled, "FAILURE OR SUCCESS," and it was written by Jan Andersen. The writing talks about what the definitions of failure and of success, and how they are related. Jan writes, "failure in the process of making repeated attempts can actually be the building blocks of success in the end" and also "True "success" as a Christian is simply remaining faithful and not rejecting God's free gift of forgiveness."
Have a successful Sunday!
God's blessings,

FAILURE OR SUCCESS

Things that occur in life may be viewed as failure or success depending upon your viewpoint. There were many people last week who felt there was a major failure of their political party or of the political process, or even a failure of the public to truly understand what is important. Others saw it as a success of their views and their political candidate. So what some considered a failure, others considered a success. A teenager "successfully" sneaks out of the house for a party, but the parents see a failure of their child to follow their rules. In business the success of one company may cause the failure of others, like a big box store coming to a small town causing a mom and pop business to close due to inability to compete. Success and failure can be two sides of the same coin.
Some dictionaries define failure as a lack of success, and success therefore must mean not failing. But failure can actually be a process by which a person learns what does not work, in order to later become successful if they continue to try. So failure in the process of making repeated attempts can actually be the building blocks of success in the end. Famous inventors like Thomas Edison repeatedly "failed" in the process before finally coming up with their successful inventions. Rather than failure being the opposite of success, not even trying would be a more accurate antonym.
In our lives we have to continually strive to be good witnesses and examples for others. Being human we will never be perfect. Does that mean we are failures? By no means! We may continue to stumble or fail, but God picks us back up, dusts us off with his forgiveness, and sends us out again as his messengers of Christ. True "success" as a Christian is simply remaining faithful and not rejecting God's free gift of forgiveness. He even uses our "failures" sometimes as tools for our growth or for other things we may not even be aware of at the time. The most important success in our lives is God - he never fails us!
Hebrews 13:5 (NIV) God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."
Dear Father God, I know that you have promised to never abandon me. Help me to never reject your loving and merciful care. May I be a willing witness and successfully faithful until the end. In Jesus' name, Amen.
