Friday Writing by Kelly Dobyns......11/11/16

Good Morning,

Friday's devotional was written by Kelly Dobyns who always writes about her own self examinations as she strives to become who God is trying to create in her. She also chose some relevant scriptures to support her theme. At the end of her writing Kelly prayed to God, "Thank you for allowing me to be the human that I am and I just pray that I have fewer and fewer moments that you need to forgive me for. In your perfect and precious name, Amen!"

Well. we made it through the week...almost. Have a fantastic Friday.
God bless,
Corinne & Kelly

Friday Devotional
Humble Me O’ Lord

I never think of myself as needing to be humbled, however, I realized that during this recent season of unhappiness, of feeling unsettled in so many ways it has brought upon me an attitude of great unpleasantness.  One in which I really need to scripture up on humility.  I definitely needed to calm my attitude; it had become very uppity without even realizing it.  I need to bring myself back down to being more Christ like.

Have this same attitude in yourselves which was in Christ Jesus [look to Him as your example in selfless humility],

Philippians 2:5
(AMP)

What a fabulous teaching of the word to keep to heart.  There is no better example to live by for all of life.  In my allowing myself to be overcome with the disappointments of this world, and it’s not living up to my expectations, wallowing in my self--pity my attitude turned extremely dark, causing me to become so self-absorbed and selfish that I not only turned my back on others, but the Lord as well.  Not only is that a sad way of existing, it goes against what God wants for us.

 So, as God’s own chosen people, who are holy [set apart, sanctified for His purpose] and well-beloved [by God Himself], put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience [which has the power to endure whatever injustice or unpleasantness comes, with good temper];

Colossians 3:12
(AMP)

This scripture is so incredibly true….in reading this life lesson, I have learned something very valuable. I did exactly the opposite of God’s instruction.  In my self-absorption, allowing my heart to become so dark, I lost all compassion for life and was overcome with unpleasantness.  I did not have the stamina needed to not fall for the lies of the enemy.   There is still hope for me though; there is always the incredibly perfect love and beauty of the Lord to save even me.  Just read and take to heart the following promises.

Humble yourselves [with an attitude of repentance and insignificance] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up, He will give you purpose].

James 4:10
(AMP)

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God [set aside self-righteous pride], so that He may exalt you [to a place of honor in His service] at the appropriate time,

1 Peter 5:6
(AMP)

and if My people, who are called by My Name, humble themselves, and pray and seek (crave, require as a necessity) My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear [them] from heaven, and forgive their sin and heal their land.

2 Chronicles 7:14
(AMP)

Oh my precious Father God….Thank you so dearly for keeping me in check, for loving me so very much, even when I turn my back to you, forgetting that You have got it all in your hands. Thank you for allowing me to be the human that I am and I just pray that I have fewer and fewer moments that you need to forgive me for. In your perfect and precious name, Amen!
