Wednesday Devotional......8/10/16

Good morning...

Yesterday we went to the nearby lake and had a picnic. The water was quite freezing and I don't do freezing water. However, I was perfectly happy to just sit and bask in the sun and enjoy the beauty of the place. We had a picnic, which was nice. When we left, I suggested that we go to a nearby ice cream place and we all had ice cream. I got mine in a waffle bowl and with my first spoonful the bowl cracked. As the ice cream started to soften and melt I ended up with a handful. Sticky stuff that.

All that sun and fresh air made us tired and so we came home and had a long nap. Life in the fast lane...LOL.

Hope your Wednesday is wonderful.
God bless
Corinne

Today's devotional was written by Sandy Billingham and is called,  "Perfect Peace In Jesus." The theme is taken from Isaiah 26:3, which advises us to keep our minds stayed on Him. Sandy points out that she zeroes in on the problem she finds herself off the chart in a bad place. Sandy  wrote, "God's Word says to keep our mind stayed on Christ. We can  have  that constant peace if we  will stay firmly fixed  on Him."

"Perfect Peace In Jesus"
It is incredible how  one moment you can be at peace and in seconds you can have that peace taken away from you. It all depends on where your thoughts go when difficult situations arise.
God's Word tells us...

"You will keep him in perfect peace,
whose mind is stayed on You."
Isaiah 26:3
That is the real key in having constant peace in Jesus. His Word  tells us we must keep our mind stayed on Him. As long as we fix  our eyes on Christ and gaze upon Him, we can retain that peace.

When adversity hits, I have a tendency to zero in on the problem. I  can get myself in a big tizzy very fast. I can tell you by past experience that  my response to adversity does not help me at all!!
God's Word says to keep our mind stayed on Christ. We can  have  that constant peace if we  will stay firmly fixed  on Him.

That is a great reminder for myself and each of us, when trouble hits...hit the floor and cry out to God, firmly setting your mind  fully on Him. Then soak in His overwhelming peace.

In His Peace,
Sandy Billingham
