Saturday Devotional.....8/13/16

Good Morning,

Yesterday Storm wanted to go to a food show. There were about 20 vendors from whom restaurants and school food programs can order in bulk. Storm is the Food Service Director for a school  district that serves five towns and has seven schools. Her mom went with us. The vendors had tables with their products on display and samples to taste. In addition they had their offerings packaged for samples to take away. Everyone was given a "shopping bag"in which to put things that we decided to take away. I filled one bag and between the four of us we had four bags. After that we went to Hobby Lobby, one of my favorite stores. I bought a couple of Christmas presents including a picture of two horses for Storm. I told her she could have it now and then I would not have to mail it at Christmas.

The three of us always have fun when we go somewhere together.

Saturday, barring rain, we will go to a powwow, Next Monday through Wednesday we are taking a short road trip and will spend the second night in a cabin close to a beach.

Pray that your Saturday is splendid.

God bless
Corinne

Carol Steficek wrote the Saturday devotional. BREATHING. She uses the idea of God breathing life into the first man He created. Then she uses the act of breathing in and out to further show that reading the Bible is necessary for us. Carol wrote, "When you don't read God's Word daily and pray without ceasing, Satan accomplishes his mission.  No breath -- no life." Very interesting concepts are presented here.

Here is the Saturday Devotional...

BREATHING

"The Lord God formed the man
from the dust of the ground and
breathed into his nostrils the breath of life,
and the man became a living being."
Genesis 3:7

When our breathing ceases forever, we are dead, there is no life left within us.  Besides the air we breathe, Christians have another breath of life, that of the Holy Spirit.  We couldn't exist as God's children without this gift, the presence of God within us to transform our lives.

We really have to do two things as we breathe, we breathe in and we breathe out.

Reading God's Word is like breathing in.  We take in everything we need to sustain our life.  Praying is like breathing out.  We connect with our source of breath, God, through prayer.

Satan wants to choke the life out of us and stop our breathing.  When you don't read God's Word daily and pray without ceasing, Satan accomplishes his mission.  No breath -- no life.
