Saturday Writings......6/18/16

Good morning...

Today ( and for a couple of days) I have been speaking to a friend who is despondent. She has suffered a lot of losses in her life during the past months...serious losses including health, loss of family support which is more important now than ever, and a blindness to the value of something that is a plus beyond understanding. She keeps feeding herself with a list of things are hard to live through. She repeats the litany over and over, and she refuses to stop reliving them. I have tried to point out that she should just make a list and give it to God. It is not being accepted. Please pray for this unnamed woman. God knows who she is.

Hope your Saturday is more than satisfactory!

God bless from
Corinne

The Devotional component in the Saturday Writings of Women's Focus Ministries is a devotional titled, "Choose Life" and was written by Carol Steficek. She shows in her writing  that it is possible to choose life which then brings a person and his children to live their lives in the favor ot the Lord. Carol wrote, "Read the book of Proverbs in the Bible sometime to learn the difference between life lived with God versus a life lived without God.  Without God there is only death and destruction."

"Choose Life"
written by
Carol Steficek

"Now choose life, so that you and your children may live
and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice
and hold fast to him.  For the Lord is your life." --
Deuteronomy 30:19b, 20a

God has a blueprint for a great life on earth -- choosing Him!  People who don't know God in their hearts don't see this truth. They think the commandments were created to destroy their fun and freedom.  They think God lives way up out there in the heavens someplace and is removed from what happens on earth.  They think what they do in life will earn them the reward of heaven -- if there even is such a place.

The polar opposite is true.  Choosing God is synonymous with choosing life.  mankind and life on earth is God's creation and He knows best how to live.  Read the book of Proverbs in the Bible sometime to learn the difference between life lived with God versus a life lived without God.  Without God there is only death and destruction.
With God is fullness of life
and pleasures forevermore.
Choose life.

   Thoughts from Corinne

My friend Nancy gave me a wonderful book. It is THE BEST OF ANDREW MURRAY ON PRAYER. It is a Daily Devotional Journal. Today's topic was "The Love of the Spirit." The page starts off with questions about whether people have a child like love of God, There is room for journaling on each page and this is what I wrote in response concerning loving God and why.

I believe in the love of the Triune God, but I often ask myself if I truly love Him in the way I should? Do people truly love Him the way they should? Do they also love Him as the Divine Santa Claus, whose job is to answer my prayers and give me His gifts. His are so great to have, but do we love Him back as the way we should?

For me His biggest gift is that He loved me and called me while I was still a sinner, and He still loves me even while I am still sinful, as people are. I do not have a right to anything from God. that I receive it. Because of His love for me, He willingly gives His gifts and even more, the Spirit of God dwells in me. Where would I be without His presence? My duty is to work on the things that are part of my "act" and do as much as I can to become more like Jesus.

Our  Value to God  Shows Us Who We Are to Him

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8

We are so very important to God that He was willing to sacrifice the life of His Son, Jesus. He did not insist that we prove ourselves by acts of our paltry human power. Even though we are who and what we are God values us so much. We are His children…His creation. He knows that we cannot earn salvation, but He wants to offer us eternal life in spite of our shortcomings. How amazing is that. He was willing to die for us while we were still sinners. He did not hold off for some human miracle by which we could make ourselves worthy by our own strength.

In evidence for this topic there is also the following scripture…

“I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message
and believe in God who sent me have eternal life.
They will never be condemned for their sins,
but they have already passed from death into life.
John 5:24

This tells us that even though we have sinned we will not be judged because of our sin. If we believe in God we will have life eternally with Him, because we have already passed from death into life. I am blessed by this, because it tells me that I no longer am under the condemnation of my sin. I do believe that it calls a certain striving from me to live a life that shows good will and love of God. However, if in my human weakness I stumble He has already forgiven me for my shortcomings.

THANK YOU GOD!

   Today's Inspiring Graphic

Life is like working out.
We are all running a race to get to our end reward
We tend to get off the track and blow it from time to time
If that happens the best thing you can do
is to pick yourself up, forgive yourself of your blunder,
and try harder to do well the next time.
God is always with you and He has your back!
